Hi Melissa, if it is just short stretch where you are working you can use a long level and mark it with a light pencil line to get it straight. If it is a long stretch, you will need to use a string level which works the same but you hook it onto a chalk string to make your mark

    String Spirit Level

Line levels (or "string" levels) are a special brand of spirit level used for leveling across longer distances. They can be attached to a tightly pulled string to find level between two stakes in the ground to find level

  • I have used peel and stick wallpaper several times on my textured walls. It sticks without a problem, but you can see the texture through the paper if it is very light in color. I have used Target paper and it's very thin. I used some from Lowes that was darker and thicker and you really couldn't see the texture. Just do a test strip before you buy a huge amount.

  • It won't stick to textured walls unless you skim coat them with joint compound smooth. Best to prime first since someday you may want to remove the paper, and if the walls aren't primed, it can rip the paper right off the drywall.

  • Get yourself a tub of wallpaper glue. A lot of the peel and stick options nowadays don't always stick that well.

  • You could apply some wallpaper glue along the edges

  • The trick is to make sure your surface is completely clean, grease-free, and dry. Then you can apply with a plastic smoothing tool to press firmly into place. If you feel the paper's adhesive isn't strong enough you can add wallpaper glue to the wall before applying the paper.

  • Just wash the walls down from any dirt, grease, or residue before applying

  • You really should do prep first if you dont want a nightmare when removing. Put a coat of wall paper prep on, sold at stand alone paint stores or apply a coat of oil base paint to seal the walls.

  • Wipe down the walls and make sure all holes are patched up.

  • I've used marble pattered stick on wall paper and brick. It looks great! The most important thing is making sure you lay it slowly, avoiding air bubbles. Other than that, it looks real!

  • If you're planning to do a room or a large wall, I would not go there. If you're planning to use it on a small wall or small space, go for it. It also depends on your walls and the wall finish. The smoother the wall, the better the adhesion. Remember that peel and stick is temporary - not like the nearly lifetime of adhesion you get with real wall paper and paste.

  • I've used it in small quantities for a bookshelf and a wall panel. It was easier to use than I thought it would be. Go slowly and use a squeegee.

Well, there are a lot of ways to use it, and one way I found easy to use it is to start putting it down and then I use a yard stick, fat edge against the roll, and press down on the paper with the skinny edge and kind of scrape it down on my project. Go slow and start from the bottom if you are doing a wall, otherwise it will unroll and be a mess. Don't ask :( It's nice to have someone help hold the roll while you are sticking it to the wall with the yard stick. Any air bubbles can be removed by putting a pin hole in the centre of the bubble and rubbing the air towards the hole. It's small and really won't show. And, it's a bear to get off and if it's on wallboard, it will pull the paper off, so be sure you really like it! :) Of course you can always paint or paper over it. If this isn't what you were looking for, how about a bit more information? Thanks
